CO₂ performance ladder

The so-called CO₂ performance ladder is an instrument that helps organisations to reduce their carbon emissions, in the performance of projects and in their business operations.

Widely used in the Netherlands and recently also in Belgium, with a certificate on the performance ladder, organisations can receive an award advantage when they apply for tenders.

The CO₂ performance ladder comprises 5 levels. Up to level 3, an organisation that obtains a certificate on the ladder reduces its own carbon emissions within the organisation and all of its projects. Level 4 and 5 mean that the organisation also aims to reduce CO₂ emissions from the business chain and sector.

Needless to say, DEME always has the highest ambitions regarding CO₂ reduction and we were the first Belgian marine contractor with the highest level.

This shows that we have fulfilled the four stringent requirements of the performance ladder.
