Tideway joins Friends of the Supergrid
Friday, April 10, 2015 – Tideway has just joined Friends of the Supergrid (FOSG), Europe's largest industrial alliance for interconnections, because it shares the vision that Europe will significantly benefit from an efficiently interconnected electricity grid or "Supergrid" that secures the supply of a sustainable and affordable energy mix for Europe.
Friends of the Supergrid is an association promoting the agenda for a European Supergrid. It combines companies in sectors that will deliver the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) infrastructure and related technology, own and operate that infrastructure. FOSG promotes an efficient, interconnected and resilient electricity grid to complement existing national transmission infrastructure. Friends of the Supergrid endorses the creation of a truly harmonized and collaborative regulatory environment that will enable effective European energy system planning and facilitate an equitable fast-track permitting process. The “Supergrid” is fundamental to a clean future for Europe and is the necessary and indispensable piece of technology in creating an Energy Union.

The rising sea level. Scarcity of strategic resources. Ever increasing emissions. Highly polluted soils.
DEME, the Belgian dredging, hydraulic engineering and environmental solutions group, provides solutions for these global challenges worldwide, on a daily basis. The Group's core business of dredging and land reclamation is supplemented by diversified activities that address different strategic drivers: hydraulic projects at sea, services to oil and gas firms, the installation of offshore wind farms, environmental activities such as soil remediation and sediment recycling, revalidation of brownfield sites and wreck clearance. Its multi-disciplinary know-how and experience have allowed the DEME Group to grow into a global solutions provider. The Group owns one of the most modern, high-tech and versatile fleets for dredging and hydraulic engineering activities. Active since 1852, the Group's solutions have never been more relevant than today, and this is reflected in its key figures: DEME employs 4,600 people worldwide and realised a turnover of EUR 2.58 billion in 2014.
