Both gravel dredgers Charlemagne and Victor Horta were specifically designed for dreging and transport of marine aggregate.
The vessels are equipped with a dewatering system to enable the supply of a dry cargo.
The Charlemagne and Victor Horta have an automated self-discharge system. By use of a mechanical grab and via on-board conveyor-belts, the aggregates are discharged on a 30m long boom-conveyor that can deliver the materials on shore, either on a quay-wall or directly in an on-shore conveyor-belt system.
Alternatively, the cargo can also be dumped to the bottom doors of the ship.
