Several days of operations and months of planning, condensed into just a few seconds. The successful immersion and connection of the third standard tunnel element marks another important milestone in the construction of the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link.

This timelapse captures a highly complex operation that begins at the tunnel factory in Rødby, Denmark, where the 217-meter-long element is connected to the immersion pontoons Ivy 1 and Ivy 2 before being towed offshore. From there, the 73,500-ton structure is carefully lowered onto the seabed and connected to the existing section of the tunnel.

Every immersion is the result of meticulous planning and close collaboration between teams working onshore and offshore. This latest installation also became the deepest tunnel element immersed to date.

Preparations are now underway for the next major milestone: the immersion of the first special tunnel element. Unlike the standard tunnel elements, these sections will house the technical systems and equipment required to operate the tunnel.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone whose expertise, dedication, and teamwork made this achievement possible.
