Wind farm developer Ørsted and DEME Offshore have successfully completed the installation of the 94 Borssele 1&2 foundations. The installation started in January this year. Despite COVID-19, the installation was completed on time.
Today, Neptune Energy and DEME announce that DEME Offshore is joining the PosHYdon offshore hydrogen pilot as partner. DEME is the world leader in offshore wind energy and recently entered into partnerships through its subsidiary DEME Concessions for green hydrogen production in the ports of Ostend (Belgium) and Duqm (Oman).
DEME Offshore successfully completed the inter-array cable laying works at the SeaMade offshore wind farm with its cable installation vessel ‘Living Stone’ operating at peak production levels.

A serious accident has occurred today on board of offshore installation vessel ‘Orion 1’ at the occasion of and during crane load tests. The vessel is under construction and owned by COSCO (QIDONG) OFFSHORE CO., LTD. The vessel is moored at the quayside at the Liebherr construction yard in Rostock, with the crane undergoing several load tests.
In an industry milestone, joint venture CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) has initiated the early works contract for the very first floating heavy lift and installation vessel to be built in Taiwan. To be named ‘Green Jade’, the vessel has an exceptionally high transport and load capacity and will be built at CSBC in Taiwan for delivery in 2022 for deployment in the flourishing local offshore wind market.
DEME Offshore is making strong progress with the foundation installation at Ørsted’s Borssele 1 & 2 Offshore Wind Farm in the Dutch North Sea, reaching the halfway mark. Having started construction works with offshore installation vessel ‘Innovation’ in mid-January 2020, foundation installation has hit the halfway mark, with 47 out of a total of 94 foundations installed.
To ensure safe crew changes on board dredgers and offshore vessels during the COVID-19 pandemic, DEME will charter a hotel ship for pre-quarantining as of this weekend. The ship is moored in Ostend.
