The Gode Wind projects are located in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the German sector of the North Sea.
This Transport & installation project is part of DONG Energy’s construction of Gode Wind 1 & 2 offshore wind farm and represents 42 and 55 foundations respectively. The foundations consist of a monopile and a transition piece, and the scope also included the grouted connection.
Once completed the capacity of the wind farm will be around 600MW.
The foundations were loaded at the fabrication yards in Rostock (monopiles) and Aalborg (transition pieces) and transported by GeoSea’s ‘NB’ barges.
The barges were then used to feed the Offshore Heavy Lift DP2 Jack-Up Vessel ‘Innovation’ with foundations in the port of Eemshaven. Offshore installation was carried out under strict BSH requirements with a high focus on noise mitigation measures.
In addition to the main scope, GeoSea was also responsible for additional secondary works such as removal of the levelling bolts, connection of earthing cables by divers, out-survey of scour protection, and the removal of grout hoses by means of a Remotely Operated Vehicle.
The scour protection installation was carried out by sister company Tideway.
