By order of the Department of Waterways and Public Works, de Vries & van de Wiel started with maintenance dredging works in the Waddenzee at the beginning of 2010.
The works, which will last for 60 months, comprise the deepening and/or maintenance of the navigation channels and ports located on the Waddenzee and the transport and distribution of the resulting spoil in order to permanently comply with the performance requirements described in the specifications.
These works are mainly carried out using our own equipment, such as the trailing suction hopper dredgers ‘Piet Hein’ and ‘Zeeland’. The Survey department carries out daily soundings and processes all measurement data. The spoil consists of sludge and sand; some of this sand will be sold by our own sand processing company. The works will be directed from our office in Harlingen.
