DEME has successfully completed the installation of 58 monopile foundations and two offshore substation foundations at the SeaMade offshore wind farm in the Belgian North Sea. The last monopile foundation landed on the seabed on January 2. With a 487 MW capacity SeaMade is the largest offshore wind farm in Belgium.
DEME Environmental Contractors (DEC), the environmental specialists of DEME, is installing a plastic collector on the river Scheldt on behalf of the Vlaamse Waterweg (the Flemish authority responsible for waterways in Flanders). A combination of a fixed and mobile installation will be tested for a year to collect waste from the water.
To be able to offer the total package of services to the offshore wind industry - from installation to maintenance - DEME is investing in its first Service Operation Vessel (SOV) for wind farm maintenance. Concepted by DEME and further designed in close cooperation with Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam and Marin , this innovative vessel significantly improves safety, comfort and workability for wind farm technicians even in the roughest sea conditions. The keel laying ceremony took place on December 13 at the CEMRE shipyard in Yalova, Turkey.
A consortium comprising of funds managed and/or advised by Partners Group (50%), InfraRed Capital Partners (25%), DEME Concessions (12.5%), GE Energy Financial Services (6.25%) and ADEME, acting on behalf of France “Investments for the Future” programme (6.25%) announced today that it has signed an agreement to sell 100% of Merkur Offshore GmbH, one of the largest operational wind farms in Germany, to APG, the Dutch pension investor and The Renewables Infrastructure Group Limited (“TRIG”) , the FTSE 250 London-listed investment company advised by InfraRed Capital Partners.
DEME Offshore has been awarded a major EPCI contract for the inter-array and interconnector cables at the Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm in Scotland. The scope includes the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the subsea cables for the 450 MW capacity wind farm, with execution expected in 2021.
DEME has reached yet another major milestone in the construction of its next generation and game changing DP3 offshore installation vessel ‘Orion’. The vessel arrived at the Liebherr construction yard in the port of Rostock, Germany for the installation of the huge 5,000-tonne crane. This milestone marks the final phase in the construction process.
The climate target to reduce CO2 emissions in Belgium by 80% by 2050 compared to 2005 levels is a major challenge. Hydrogen has an important role to play in the mix of solutions to achieve results. That is why Deme, Engie, Exmar, Fluxys, Port of Antwerp, Port of Zeebrugge and WaterstofNet are joining forces. A joint study serves as a basis to coordinate delivery of concrete projects that shape the production, transport and storage of hydrogen.
On Saturday, 16 November 2019, DEME and Royal IHC successfully launched the 7,950m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) ‘Meuse River’. The ceremony took place at IHC’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, the Netherlands.
Taiwan based CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) and the Zhong Neng Wind Power Corporation Preparatory Office have signed two contracts for the Zhong Neng offshore wind farm project. The contracts include transportation and installation of foundations, as well as a Preferred Bidder Agreement (PBA) for transportation and installation of wind turbines.
Today in Taipei, the Hai Long Offshore Wind (OFW) Project signed Taiwan’s first large-scale Balance of Plant (BOP) Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) with local company CSBC DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE), marking another significant milestone in realising the localisation of Taiwan’s offshore wind industry.
